Fire Emblem Direct Summary

Hey all! David here. My post today will cover what was announced in today’s Fire Emblem Direct.

First off, to begin the Direct, Nintendo announced that Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia will be coming to the 3DS on May 19th, 2017. It is heavily inspired by the 2nd game of the series Fire Emblem Gaiden, which was originally only released in Japan. It features two protagonists in Alm and Celica, and will carry over all of the features that made Gaiden unique compared to the rest of the Fire Emblem series.

Nintendo will also be releasing both Alm and Celica amiibo as a dual pack. They will be available on the same day as Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia (May 19th).

Next, a Fire Emblem game for the Nintendo Switch is in development. It is planned for a release sometime in 2018 and will be the first game on a console since Radiant Dawn for the Wii.

Afterwards, more information about Fire Emblem Warriors was announced. Being developed by Koei Tecmo, the same group that has done Hyrule Warriors as well as many other Warriors type games, it will be available both for the Nintendo Switch, as well as New 3DS devices sometime in Fall 2017. Making it only compatible for New 3DS only is a smart move in my opinion, given how poorly Hyrule Warriors Legends ran on normal 3DS systems.

Finally, the remaining portion of the Direct covered the upcoming mobile game Fire Emblem Heroes. As a summoner, the goal is to call upon heroes from various games in the Fire Emblem series to achieve victory. These heroes are summoned using various orbs which can be earned through both gameplay and micro transactions. There will also be a Training Tower which will provide battles of varying degrees of difficulty so that new heroes can gain experience for use in the other modes. All maps will be limited to a 6 x 8 grid, but will remain true to Fire Emblem’s traditional gameplay by taking advantage of terrain as well as the weapon triangle. Fire Emblem Heroes will be launching on both the Google Play store as well as iOS devices on February 2nd, 2017.

For Fire Emblem Heroes, there is a Choose Your Own Legends Event starting today, where the community’s most popular hero and heroine will have a special version of themselves featured in the game. You can also link your MyNintendo network account in order to receive some Platinum Points as well for voting.
